The author of Tom Gates came into rehearsals today for her first peek at what we’ve been up to. It’s fabulous to have the creator Liz Pichon sitting in the room with us. We were filming several scenes for social media so Liz got an overview of all the characters. I always find filming rehearsal footage nerve-wracking as you’re caught mid-process but this is the new world. When we opened our first production by Terence Rattigan at The Old Rep back in 1992 I remember the director saying the problem with theatres are that there are no windows, so no-one can look in to see what’s going on. Now you can broadcast your every move as you head towards opening night. It doesn’t make me feel less nervous but it’s all there for people to see!
