The autumn theatre season is scarcely under way and already I want to be handing out awards. A brittle, brilliant piece of theatre and both actors, under John Harrison's direction, are magnificent. I saw the original production at the Royal Court and while it is difficult to compare performances seen years apart my feeling is that this one is even better
