Birmingham Stage Company

Jackie Trousdale

Designer

Originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne I studied Fine Art at The University of Reading.

I was given my first opportunity to design at The Mercury Theatre Colchester, moving on to The Belgrade Theatre Coventry, designing productions for the main stage and the studio. After two years as resident designer at Oldham Coliseum Theatre I became freelance. Since then I have designed many of the adaptations of children's books for The Birmingham Stage Company. I have continued to design productions mostly for Birmingham Stage and in 2006 I was also lucky to be asked to art direct for the events in The Palace gardens for The Queen's 80th Birthday celebrations.

Some recent designs have embraced the newest computer generated technology. Together with Amazing Interactives, we have used 3D animation for the stage adaptations of some of Terry Deary's Horrible History books, and also for the stage production of Horrible Science. My most recent design for Birmingham Stage Company is Gangsta Granny.
